Our Cooks and Prep Cooks are an integral part of our operation.  Nature’s Plate creates large batches of soups, salads, entrees, and baked goods which are packaged as individual portions for sale in our store or as part of weekly meal plans.  All items are plant-based and prepared from scratch, including sauces and dressings. We are looking for team members who are passionate about plant-based food and interested in being part of an energetic, dedicated team.  We offer consistent schedules (changes occur no more than once a month and in most cases much less frequently).  We’re a growing company, and we’re looking for the right people to grow with us.

COOK

Responsibilities

  • Cook large batches of soups and main course menu items from documented recipes – our menu includes over 100 items from a variety of cuisines
  • Scale recipes to large quantities as required
  • Prep raw ingredients including vegetables, fruits, herbs, etc.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment
  • May include portioning and packaging individual servings

Requirements

  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques particularly for grains, beans, and vegetables.
  • Experience with plant-based ingredients and recipes.
  • Knife handling skills
  • Basic reading (English) and math (including fractions) skills
  • Ability to follow specific directions
  • Knowledge of food safely guidelines
  • Interact positively with other team members and customers
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for 6-8 hours / shift
  • Previous large production food service experience a plus
  • Weekend availability

 

PREP COOK

Responsibilities

  • Prep large quantities of raw ingredients including vegetables, fruits, herbs, spice mixes, and baking mixes in specific quantities according to specific recipe requirements
  • Store prepped ingredients according to direction and food safety standards
  • Assemble salads and wraps according to documented recipes
  • Prepare sauces and dressings according to documented recipes
  • Portion and package food by weight or volume
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment
  • May include some cooking of basic recipes

  • Ability to follow specific directions
  • Knowledge of food safely guidelines
